Bigfoot to the rescue

bfoot_cast.jpgMALAYSIA. A private museum in America is ready to come to the rescue of Paranormal Seekers Malaysia which has put its best foot forward – a plaster cast of a huge five-toed left footprint, to be precise – up for sale on the computer auction site eBay.

The unnamed museum has offered to pay $50,000 (£27,000) for the cast which was made by paranormal investigator Syed Abdullah Al-Attas, founder of the Malaysian group, outside Lukut, in Johor. Local people are convinced that the giant man-ape exists in the area.

“We need equipment and material for our paranormal investigations and research, but we have no funding nor aid from the government,” Mr Abdullah explained. “Therefore we are forced to put the cast up for sale.”

Belief in ghosts and mysterious creatures is prevalent in Malaysia, but Bigfoot is regarded by most as a physical animal.

The cast was made on 21 February this year when a group of investigators came across several footprints in a Malaysian jungle in the southern state of Johor. It was in this area, in December last year, that witnesses claimed to have spotted three of the creatures – two adults and a youngster.

bfoot_researchers.jpgSyed Abdullah (left, in picture with cast) was accompanied by three other Seekers members, together with four from the US-based Destination Truth and three from Singapore Paranormal Investigators (SPI), including its founder Dr Kenny Fong (pictured, right, with Syed Abdullah).

According to Dr Fong, there were about a dozen footprints in the moist soil, with the most distinct one – measuring 45.5cm by 36cm – having a print before and after it at a distance of about 1.5 metres apart. He believed the prints were fresh and less than an hour old.

At the time, it was reported that the investigators planned to try getting DNA samples from the plaster cast, but the lack of any follow-up report on this suggests they were not successful.

The Bigfoot plaster cast remains open to offers until the end of the year, when it will go to the highest bidder.
